Benjamin Schuster-Böckler
Ben studied Bioinformatics in Berlin, received his PhD from Cambridge University and since 2013 is a group leader funded by Ludwig Cancer Research. His team at the Big Data Institute in Oxford is interested in the role of epigenetic modifications in cancer. As a purely computational research group, they apply statistical approaches and machine-learning to existing data. For example, they built the software tools to process the data coming from a brand-new, Oxford developed technology called TAPS. Within the DeLIVER project, Dr Schuster-Böckler’s group aims to develop algorithms that will detect the presence of cancer from a simple blood draw.
