This is our third PEARL STUDY newsletter. Below is the latest “data” extracted from the bioanalysis portal today (excluding 3 patients that have been recruited this afternoon)!
Congratulations to the teams at Plymouth (Matthew C) and Georges (Dan F), Hull (Lyndsey C), Oxford (Emma C) and Kings (KoshA) for ongoing recruitment. And to Bradford (Sulleman M), C&W (Matthew F) and Brighton (Sumita V) now off to a flying start: Now 57 patients towards our 3000 patient target.
Interesting to see the even spread of NAFLD, HCV and Alcoholic liver disease-with one Haemochromatosis patient creeping in.
Some of us attended HCC-UK this time last week at Kings-it was a great meeting that really outlined the need to detect HCC early, to improve HCC screening protocols, and to better assess some of the existing HCC biomarker scores (e.g. GALAD) in prognostic studies- as well as showing some great basic science. We really hope that PEARL will contribute to these aims.
We are really looking forward to meeting you at our Face-to-Face study day Wednesday June 8th in Oxford -PIs, nurses and other key staff all welcome. The program is really coming together (thanks Francoise), are we are looking forward to meeting the nursing teams (who we know really do the hard work!). Do drop Jenni B a line if for some reason you do not have the link/invite to sign up.
We remain on standby to make the study as easy as possible to recruit to, and welcome feedback in real time of any issues regarding the study protocol, blood sampling or shipment of samples — very keen to make this as easy as possible to recruit to.
